Patrick Snow's book, Create Your Own Destiny, is full of inspirational quotes, like
"You become what you think about."
- Abraham Lincoln
I recommend his book and the simple process he lays out. I'm a big fan of dreaming about new futures and sharing those with others by articulating them as visions. Good ideas become goals with strategies and action plans. Goals are very powerful. Patrick says it well:
The goals of a person define who that person will become and what that person stands for! Only those who set goals in sync with the visualization of their destiny will achieve their destiny. Simply put, your goals define YOU!
In order to establish your goals, of course, you must be clear on what it is that you want in life. W.L. Hunt once said that:
"The first key to success is to decide exactly what it is you want in life."
Goals should have these traits:
- They should be written down. Write down your goals, then keep them handy to review frequently.
- They should be specific.
- They should have a built-in time frame.
- They should be reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
Earl Nightinale was one of the early forefathers of goal research. Here is what he sais on the importance of goal setting:
"People with goals succeed because they know where they are going."
For me, I wrote my own personal Definition of Success ten years ago and, surprisingly, I haven't felt any need to edit it. My DOS encompasses my whole life. I also use a One Page Plan to keep me focused on my key business goals. I find that the act of writing them down, and then simply telling someone who will hold me accountable (e.g. a friendly coach), are usually two huge steps towards accomplishing these objectives.

I was very impressed and felt had to get a valuable experience after reading your article. I will learn more and I’ll try to implement. thanks for sharing...
